Dr Pandit Vidyasagar is an acclaimed researcher, excellent teacher, prolific writer and able administrator. He worked as professor and head department of physics at Savitribai Phule Pune University. He has published over one hundred research papers in reputed national and international journal, over one thousand write ups in news papers and magazines. He has delivered more than twenty five radio talks and also made about fifty educational films. He has extensively contributed in the field of popularization of science. He has to his credit sixteen books in Marathi and English. He has deliverd over five hundred talks to students, teachers and public at large to take science to people. His science fiction Superclone has been translated in kannada and Hindi and has been a text book for M A Marathi at Savitribai Phule Pune University. His book Ovi Gau VIdnyanachi is first of its kind which bringsscience in a poetic form. The book has been translated in Hindi and English and published by Yash Publication, Delhi and Macmillan, India respectively. He has worked as a Vice-Chancellor of SRTM University , Nanded and acquired A grade by NAAC during his tenure. He has been bestowed with many awards for his research, teaching and social work. Some of them include Dr M W Chiplonkar award by Indian Physics Association PC for popularization of science, Vishesh Granthkar Purskar by Marathi Sahitya Parishad, Best teacher award by Savitribai Phule Pune University, Dr panjabrao Deshmukh Purskar by Yahwant rao Chavan Mukt VIdyapeeth, Nashik, Regular and senior associateship by Abdus Salam International Center for Theoretical Physics, Trieste ,Italy. Education Excellence award by IBM- Lokmat and many more. Dr Vidyasagar is known for is philosophical and philanthropic approach towards science and religion.
